To enjoy the transition from summer to fall, we will take attendees for a beautiful paddle on the Bush River through part of the Bush River Natural Resource Management Area in Harford County, Maryland. This is a bring-your-own-boat event where we will lead the group up and back this beautiful tidal freshwater river through marsh and forest canopy while providing on the fly wildlife education. In previous years we were fortunate to see bird species such as terns, herons, bald eagles, barn swallows, red-tailed hawks, and pileated woodpeckers. We shared the waters with river otters, beaver, muskrat and some eastern painted turtles. Our goal is to treat everyone to a spectacular sunset over the marsh at the end of the trip where we can sit in silence to take in the sounds of nature and escape the modern world for a short moment.
*For safety and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all paddlers will be required to wear face coverings until able to be adequately spaced on the water. Please bring face coverings on your boat in case assistance is needed and close proximity is required. Hand sanitizer will be provided and used between handling each guest’s boats if needed.
*We expect everyone to wear life jackets (PFDs), bring water, a snack, insect spray, sunscreen, and clothing / footwear that can get wet. There will be great photo opportunities but we recommending having waterproof cases or at least dry bags to safely store equipment.
*The tides appear suitable but we will keep an eye on the weather as we get closer. If there is thunder, lightning, high winds or rain we will reschedule the event.
*All vehicles will park in the shoulder of Route 40 on the south side at 39°27’43.2″N 76°15’06.2″W (closest address is 4303 Pulaski Highway Abingdon, MD), just east of the Bush River bridge and be left there during the paddle. Please secure valuables and park as far from the busy highway as possible. Safety first! The launch is primitive and done via a bank into the river. Assistance will be provided as needed.
* We have limited space on the upper stretches of the creek so please confirm whether you are coming or not prior to the event so we can notify other guests that the event is full.
* Cost for event is $10 per paddler, please see the ticket link to reserve your spot. We have limited space, especially on the upper stretches of the creek so please purchase your ticket in advance.
*Any questions before or on the day of the event please contact us at 443-333-9453.
