You may have heard us talking about Wood Turtles this morning on the Baltimore NPR station, WYPR, but no worries if you missed it! We have the link below where we discuss our research and conservation work with the species in collaboration with The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and Maryland Department of Natural Resources- Wildlife & Heritage Service . We have many threats to this species including illegal poaching for the black market pet trade, habitat destruction, nest predation, road mortality and many others but we are fighting change course for the species locally, one population at a time. Our current habitat use and population research is funded through the Chesapeake WILD grant program by the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation but our Wood Turtle head-starting program is funded by generous supporters like you. These hungry baby turtles can benefit from your help! DONATE HERE
